Wandering North

After our epic bus ride to Buenos Aires, we hung out for a few days, bought some Brazil appropriate bikinis, and met back up with our friend David who was living at the hostel we stayed at in BsAs. We celebrated Julie´s birthday yet again with a delicious meal at a semi-fancy restaurant in Palermo called Miranda. I got the most delicious salad with roasted vegetables, fresh mozzarella and an herb vinagrette. I was very excited because in the land of meat, I was craving a good ´fresh´salad. It´s the simple things that excite me these days! Being in BsAs was kind of like coming home, because we have spent more time in BsAs than anywhere else. We relaxed and then got on a bus to Iguazu Falls.

Our hostel was a welcome change!

Complete with a sweet pool.

We arrived at the Hostel Inn Iguazu and were living in luxury! This hostel is said to be the best in Argentina. It used to be an old casino and was really open with a nice pool outside. We broke out our bathing suits for the first time down here. We chilled by the pool and the hostel had a BBQ which included a samba show complete with Brazilian dancers that gave lap dances to a line of guys. It was pretty funny! Then they got the ladies up there and Jules and I were solicited to learn samba up on stage. I had some really funny photos of this but no more. I will try to track some down from the guys we were hanging out with and post more later.

The next morning we set off for Iguazu Falls. Legend has it that a god planned to marry a beautiful aborigine named Naipí, who fled with her mortal lover Tarobá in a canoe. Out of rage, he divided the river creating the waterfalls, condemning the lovers to an eternal fall. Talk about revenge! I have never seen a large waterfall before so I was definitely impressed. We took a boat ride which drove under the falls soaking us completely. It was fun and felt great because it was extremely hot that day. The rest of the day was spent walking along the balconies seeing the falls from all angles. It was a really hot day and so a spray from the falls was very refreshing. There were also lots of beautiful butterflies, birds and lizards throughout the park.

Such cool designs on their wings.

View of the falls.

Jules & I. Soaked from our boat ride.

All looks calm.

Where the mouth of the river converges.

This was called the ´Devil´s Mouth´ and you
can see why. There was so much water you
couldn´t see where it ended.

We spent another day relaxing at the pool in Iguazu and then set off to enter Brazil! We hopped on a bus to meet my cousin Natalie in Sao Paolo and were excited for a new country to explore.

*I added a donate button at the top of my blog. Obviously it is not expected but I figured with Christmas coming up and all...It will also ensure you receive a cool present from South America. :)
